phone memory fill how do i clear same

My phone is a LGmdoel GX500 it keeps telling me meomry is full even if I send only one text what do I do?
 
Delete files that you don't need, or move files that you don't need all the time to your computer. The phone has 40MB of internal memory - there's not much you can keep on that.
