Help Phone never connects to my home's wi-fi connection

What am I doing wrong here? How do I get it to connect? I have a Samsung Vibrant 3G, and it never can connect to the wi-fi network set up for our home's laptops? Is that the correct wi-fi network to connect the phone to? If not, then what is, and what do I need to do?

**edit: also, I'm using the 2.2 FROYO firmware

Yes, the network that your laptops connect to for internet access is the correct network.

Go to settings > wireless and network > wi-fi settings

Then turn on the phone's wifi, and either click your network when it appears in the list, or select 'add wi-fi network' at the bottom.
