1, NEVER use a task killer.. Android doesn't need one..sometimes it causes issues..such as..well, yours.
But, no, i'm afraid the only options i can offer would require a factory reset. I assume you ain't rooted because 1, You didn't mention it. 2, It's a pain to do on the Wildfire.
You could see if you have a factory reset option from the bootloader menu.
Hold Volume down while turning the phone on. if you get to said menu, use volume up and down to navigate and power button to select.

Did you try booting into safe mode (I suggested in Guest Questions)? Or would it not boot that way either?
If it wouldn't, then I agree that factory reset is all that's left.

All it does is disable user-installed apps. But maybe that would be enough.
With HTCs with the optical pad I believe you press and hold this when it's booting. With later ones without it's volume down - wait until the splash screen is on before pressing it, or you end up in hboot instead.
They don't really advertise it!
