Help Phone not working after update

About 6 months ago, I updated my SGS to the 2.2 Froyo update, using the files:

GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJPK.tar.md5
I9000XXJPK-REV03-PDA-low-CL584433.tar.md5
MODEM_I9000XXJPK.tar.md5
s1_odin_20100512.pit

All worked perfect, I did Z4_Root and also applied the Voodoo LagFix ROM... Again, all working fine. Been having loads of troubles with WiFi networks and connections to them so I thought I'd have a look to see what updates are available.

I found this page:

How To Update Samsung Galaxy S I9000 to stable Gingerbread XWJVB 2.3.3 Firmware | Android Advices

So I saw on this page the author had written:

I Have tried doing this on more than one PC to check its not a driver error, but I get the same thing...

Is there any way to format the phone and start from scratch?

ooooo.....

Think I may have fixed it, After numerous attempts of ODIN getting stuck at "SetupConnection.." I decided to power off the SGS by holding the power button whilst ODIN was stuck at "SetupConnection.."

This proceeded to bring up the bricked phone screen of death (Uh Oh I thought to myself!).

I took the battery out of the phone, Then rebooted and saw the bricked phone screen again.

So I took the battery out of the phone again, and tried rebooting into download mode. This seemed to work ok and then ODIN noticed it had connected so wasn't looking as doomed as I'd thought.

So I pressed start on ODIN (Re-Partition was not checked) and it proceeded to connect to my SGS and download the files. This kicked off a reboot and a few update messages that seemed to pass ok.

The Boot screen appeared for about 5 minutes then it proceeded to ask me for language selection etc... and seems to be working fine :)

PHEW!!!
