Phone off of charger for 12 hours... battery at 90%

Kelmar

Done by choice
Ok, ok... minimal use, but still. Probably about 20 texts and checked email 3 or 4 times. Currently unplugged for 12+ hours and my battery is at 90%! :):):):D

Let me first say, I'm rooted and running a noobnl's Andromeda custom ROM, bloatware is removed, OmaDRMconfigService.drm removed.

3G and wifi off by using Quick Settings (from market) except when in use.

Wow sweet battery life. That's amazing. I have to charge my phone like 3 times a day. Even now, my battery is at 12% .... :-(
When I had the moment I really screwed it up trying to add custom roms and all that. So I'm deffinantly not going to try again.

Why do you not have 3g icon? I only get that when I disable my mobile connection. Maybe thats why your battery is lasting longer since you're not really polling for data connection.

EDIT: NM didnt see the rest of your post.

You can trim the cell standby usage by setting your slot cycle one or two notches higher (mine's at the default 2 for now as I test my new Fascinate).

I've had mine be around 40-30% battery life after 39 hrs of being unplugged.. good stuff!!

edit- everything stock, turn off 3g data when not using it.. and it was on wifi for a total of 22+hrs

Just out of curiosity - are you on DG27 or DI07?

This is my only smartphone and I don't want to use work laptop for much non-work activities so the Epic gets a lot of use in regards to web browsing, forums, news reader, social network and the occasional text messages and voice calls. I am satisfy with a days charge, at times a bit earlier.

Great app, I have 3G disabled too now. I have gmail set to fwd emails to SMS, so I still get push notification. :)

Only downside of no 3G is this disables visual voicemail. You get the standard voicemail indicator in the status bar, however mine doesn't seem to want to disappear even though I already checked and deleted the voicemail..

^ I use google voice... no idea about VVM. :)

FWIW, today my battery is at 23% with HEAVY usage (same amount of time off the charger). Probably 5 or 6 hours of browser use, 100 texts and 30 minutes of calls.

The slot cycle setting determines how often your device polls the nearest tower for incoming calls.

The lower the setting, the more often it queries for a signal, and thus the more battery life and (slightly) more resources the device uses.

Higher settings keep the device less busy, but at the risk of too many rings heard by the caller before the receiving phone, yours, starts ringing at all.

I wish my phone would root. My brother (tech savy guy) could not get it to root for us .... I guess I will wait until I return from my trip ... but I am a heavy email user (about 100 email a day min)

After the update, its seeming to be much better here as well; iI to hav JD running so my data isn't constantly goin...

Alright should I just use the quick settings thing or juice defender? I have juice defender now and it doesn't seem to do much. Also got rid of battery status pro just now and downloaded quick battery because it said it doesn't drain the battery... Thoughts?

If you NEED push messages and need your phone to work when you aren't actually using it, stick to Juice Defender.

If you DON'T need instant notifications and don't mind doing the "work" to turn on 3G, wifi, etc... I'd go with Quick Settings or SwitchPro.

All IMO of course. :)
