Root Phone only boots to clockwork recovery

Hate that this is my first post but having an issue with my rooted htc thunderbolt. It is still running the stock rom as I only rooted for the teether option. I have made one backup of the rom previosly. This morning, I woke with my phone off. It was charging all night. I found that when I power on, it boots only to clockwork and seems to only boot with it on the charger initailly.

I have pulled battery and reboot in clockwork with same deal. Kinda stuck in a bind as I am currently on a road trip and just need my phone back up. Any suggestions?

are you able to boot to hboot? (pull battery, hold vol down/power) if so,tell us the info on that screen.

have you tried wiping cache and dalvik cache and see if that lets the phone boot? sounds like it may have tried to accept an OTA
