Phone/PC connection not working

so before i could plug my phone into my pc, and the phone would ask mass storage or dharge only. now it doesn't ask me that, and i can't get it to show up on my computer! i've gone into the settings to the ASB settings, i have it checked to ask on plug but its not. also before when it was charging and i hadn't done the pattern to go into the phone but the screen was lit waiting for me to do so, it would say the percentage that it was charged. its not doing that anymore either.

as far as i know i haven't changed any settings. i've switched from the original 2g sd card to an 8g from the store.

Does this happen only on one computer or does it happen on every computer that you try? If it's specific to one computer, then you can try to download the drivers again for your specific phone onto your PC. Also, plugging in and out a few times in a row has triggered a connection for me int he past. And of course the first thing to try is a reboot of both the PC and the phone which should clear out any glitches.

okay, so it happens on both computers. but it used to just work on my laptop. now it doesn't. i've tried unplug and thenback in again several times and no go.

you know what, i think i don't remember what its called, but basically had my computer go back in time? .........ahh whats it called?? anyways i'll try getting the software i need again.

looked, can't find anything but owner manuals. before i got what i needed because the phone brought it up on my computer.

how do i reboot and what will i lose info wise?
