Root Phone power button wake

Is there any way to get the phone power button screen wake feature that was pay off the v8 ota integrated into roms that are out here. I find it very annoying trying to get my screen to turn on while in a call in order to make dial pad inputs or to do anything on the phone.

I never took the v8 ota, so i don't know if it will be as simple as returning to stock taking the update and then loading one of these roms again. Just wanted to get some opinions.
 
I'm no dev, nor an expert, but i would imagine it is something that would need to be built into the roms. I'm sure it wont carry over after you wipe data when flashing a new rom from stock.

Why would you need to do the power button screen wake? You can just set the screen proximity time, which I'm fairly certain turns the screen on when you pull the phone away from your ear (I don't really recall though...)

It's just a build.prop tweak. You can find the specific lines, I've posted them in one of the threads around here... Or use an app like pimp my rom to add the tweaks (under telephony).
 
I'm on aokp42. I know that there is a built in feature to wake the screen while on a call when you return to a standard use position but i find that it rarely works well and i often find myself shaking the phone as the automated operator tells me to make an input or put in a code to get into my teleconference.

I know it might be as simple as me holding the phone in front of me too long after making the initial call and possibly recalibrating in the wrong position, but obviously its been enough of an issue with our phone that they they actually decided to put a workaround in the latest push.

Also I've had this issue since being in Stock v6. I only bring it up now since there is actually a way to get around this issue but I'm not versed enough in mobile programming to understand how to do this myself.
 
Dunno man. Ive never had that problem with the proximity tweaks.

my issue is hitting buttons on the keypad with my ear..... lol wonder if there is a setting that could be built in using the accelerometer to note when you move the phone from your ear... hit keyboard.... move back to your ear to flip the screen away from keypad and back

Adjusting the delay for your proximity sensor should do the same thing.
