Help Phone putting me on hold in calls

HI

For some reason my phone randomly keeps putting my calls on hold for no reason, now i don't know if this is something i have done but its annoying has anyone come across this.

I find that my display doesn't turn off when I'm in a call so I end up putting the call on hold or dialing someone else with my ear. Its a pain but I manually turn off the screen with a quick power button press each time after starting to dial.

I'd think you should take that back to the store then. I haven't had any issues at all with mine.

:) I can't stop laughing.. sorry for your problem but that's funny :)

i keep having this problem to. it takes to long for the screen to go off, even if i push the power button to turn it off it still comes back on when i move it a little bit away from my ear. Is there any way of changing the speed the screen goes off in calls or even better just move or disable the hold button to the bottom as that is the only one that gets pushed

Are you right or left handed? I've noticed that if I hold the phone to my left ear I usually end up putting myself on hold as the proximity sensor doesn't see its up to my head. If I put it to my right ear, it does.

Does it to me too; drives me insane cos when you pull down the top bar to resume call it sometimes triggers the proximity sensor and u cant do shit. By the time its sorted theyve hung up; (

Seriously this is now pissing me off to the point where im going to go back to my iphone, every single call i make/receive mutes at some point, is rhere any way of removing the screen buttons!! Can anyone help please!

When you're going to put it up to your head, push the power button to turn the screen off. That way you won't be able to hit hold with your ear.

I do it every once in a while as well, but usually on long calls where I'm adjusting the phone.

I'm more aware of it now, so I make sure the screen has gone black out of the corner of my eye before I push it up against my ear.

This is a very interesting thread, but unfortunately not very helpful to me. I am having the same problem on a Samsung Moment, but not when I use it. It only happens when my wife uses it. After extensive troubleshooting, we have determined that it is because she wears shiny earrings and they reflect enough light into the sensors that even though the phone is up to her ear, the screen does not blank about half the time. This makes the phone completely unusable to her, as she is constantly putting people on hold or hanging up on them. The sensor is at the perfect spot for her earrings to cause this problem. Earring out, problem solved. Earring in, phone unusable.

Congratulations, Google. You've created a technical monstrosity that is unusable for over half the population because you failed to do even rudimentary testing on a completely unnecessary feature. After all, Palm fixed this problem in the early smartphone days by offering users a checkbox option to disable the screen when on a call. The screen was simply reenabled with a green "answer" or "dial" button press. What is wrong with that? Why do we need a stupid sensor that just makes things more complicated and doesn't even work all the time for the majority of folks?

Oh yeah, and the suggested recommendation to just quickly press the power button to disable the screen after dialing doesn't work on the Moment. It hangs up the call every time, no matter whether you press it immediately after dialing or after the person has answered.

Does nobody offer an app to disable the screen when on a call?

loool u know why ? because your ear is touching the hold
so the solution there is softWARE called alock download it and it will solve your problem

This works for me as well. Have not had a problem since.

HI

My phone did this as well. I would hear beeping as though I was pressing buttons. I have three Avants and only one did this. I thought maybe the phone had a small capacitance charge and when I am talking on it the phone had a small charge/discharge between me and the phone. I pulled the battery out of it over night to discharge the phone. It seems to have fixed the problem.
