How can the three best Android phones be a no go in the UK? that's lame.

They are all CDMA phones, and CDMA is not particularly common outside of North America.
Although like the other guy said, the HTC Desire is roughly equivalent to an HTC Incredible, so that seems like a good choice.

no its not, i'm on o2, which is the equivalent of AT&T, we got the iPhone exclusively for years before we went sim free, but unfortunately Nexus One is only on Vodafone here, (equivalent of Verizon or T-Mobile)
So the nexus one is also a no go,
I was thinking of selling my iPhone 4, buying the Incredible from the US contract free, and having a friend ship it over, would that seem feasible?
As i really dont like the look of the Desire, the brown is a turn off for me

yes, vondaphone owns verizon, but it is a different company.
the only reason im making this distinction is that vondaphone is a GSM company like t-mobile or at&t. verizon is a cdma company.
if you buy a worldphone from verizon they come with a vondaphone GSM sim card and radio in them so that you can use Vondaphones cell network, but they also have a CDMA radio in them as well so that you can use verizons network in the USA.

definitly agree with him.
also your plan rates are so cheap compared to mine on verizon!
free phone, 24 month plan, 600 minutes, and data for 35 Euros (45.15 USD)
i pay 99.99 and get 450 minutes from verizon...
i did notice though that O2 has a data cap of 1GB where i think verizon is more like 5 or 10 GB (im not sure if they have a strict cap)
i have got a chance to play with the galaxy s, yeah it is pretty nice, although ive heard HTC's sense is way better than Samsung's implementation of android, (sorry if my info is incorrect, im an android newbie.)
and yeah, o2's cap is strict, but because most people my age (14) are on a pre pay plan, then they get unlimited free texts to o2 network, not vodafone or orange, so basically if you want to have a social life, o2 is the only option

i havent tried the Galaxy S so i cant comment on that but i really like the HTC Sense UI. i would go with the desire personally, but go try them both out in the store if you can.
HTC Sense UI has twitter, facebook, and picasa built in really nicely in my opinion.

Vodaphone has a stake in Verizon, and it's only a minority holder.
I wouldn't call that ownership... they have been trying to buy each other out for years.
That being said surely there is a Galaxy S derivative available for the OPs UK carrier?
I think I'm going galaxy s, seen Chris pirillos review and it seemed very good,
although, I'm thinking i may have one problem,
I got my iphone on launch day, but returned it 14 days later to get the white, but seeing as of the delay, i decided to give the black iP4 another go, but the death grip still remains, anyone else think they'll just turn me away and say I've made to many exchanges?

sweet dude, just looked at the videos, looks impressive, i'm definitely set on that galaxy s now, will return my "magical" iPhone with the inability to make calls, tomorrow, and hopefully o2 will have the Galaxy S in stock. :]

On another note, this was the gimmick I think Apple was hoping would pay off.
People would wait for the 'fix' and it was first a software one then a bumper.
By then the 30 day buyers remorse periods and return policies would expire and they keep your money and you keep your gimped phone.
Of course fanboys deny that but why else would they do it?
They are in business after all.

That's not an issue man, you're going to thank them when i walk you through this.
1)Start and ebay account
2)Post your iPhone for $600 starting bid, $700 buyout
3)giggle as people die to pay way too much for it.
4)Take your $650 or so and buy a Galaxy S outright.
5)Stick the extra $150 you just made in your bank account to start saving up for a beer fund for college.
6)giggle some more because it makes you feel good.
ps - obviously these were US prices, I dont' know the conversion off the top of my head. The prices are pretty solid btw, I just literally sold an iPhone 4 this morning for $676 to a guy in Russia. But I would move quickly as the iPhone 4 is rolling out to more and more countries every month.
