Phone screen lock

I just got the android and when i am on a call my screen locks up so i can't do any other function. I hit the button on top where it turns on the phone but when i tap it i get cut off. Anyone know what to do plz
 
Hello and welcome to Android Forums! :)

If you go to menu>settings>accessibility you can uncheck the box that says power button hangs up call. Then it will unlock the screen while in a call.
