Phone screen looks weird with sunglasses?

I ordered some sunglasses recently, both polarized, and I noticed that one pair of sunglasses makes the screen look weird (I don't really know how to describe it), and the other one makes the screen look normal, albeit with the tint.

What causes the Evo V screen to look odd with certain sunglasses?

I would imagine the issue is the polarisation - that means you're only seeing light that is coming along one plane (rough and ready definition ;)). You're sure the both pairs of shades are actually polarised ..?

Just an idea. I would look at the screen with both pair in the same light and angle. Polarizing is affected by both light type and angle of view.

They're cheap pairs off Amazon, but they appear to be. Either way, do polarized sunglasses cause the Evo 3D screen to look weird?

I literally swapped them out while my phone was leaning up against the wall and I didn't move. :P

This..
The Evo uses the technology called a Parallax barrier. I'm not going into the science but it splits lightwaves for us to view the 2d/3d content on the device. That combined with polarized glasses will result in missed segments of light that you would normally see. Thus, messing with the "Image" you see.

Same with my friends sunglasses, but his make the screen completely disappear when you tilt the phone horizontally. It freaked me out, thought my phone was broken. I couldn't figure it out. I tried to show him but because he wasn't wearing the sunglasses, he couldn't see what my problem was. He looked at me like I was crazy. Finally, I took the glasses off and the screen was visible to me again.
