Phone screen question

Hi Folks,
I have a Galaxy Note, which I love except for one thing.
Tthe phone screen - I spend a lot of time phoning insurance companies and having to drill down phone trees. By the time I listen to my options, the phone is blank. It is cumbersome for me to press the side button to get the screen back - REALLY FRUSTRATING !!!
Do all android phones do this?
Is there a work around?

The proximity sensor should do the job of turning the screen on and off automatically during a call.

Is it not working at all for you?

It depends on what the display 'time-out' settings on the device is set to. The default settings is set to one minute; however, you can change this to your preference. Usually this option can be found inside settings - display - screen time-out.

I hope this is what you are talking about.

That is right.

I myself set it for 10 minutes.

Of course, I won't leave the screen on that long, but I like to have the controls.

Now, during a call, it works differently, as the proximity sensor will turn off the screen immediatly if it thinks the phone is close to your face. And it doesn't always work correctly.

But there must be an app for turning the proximity sensor off and keeping the screen on at all times during a call.

I'll look for it later and post it here if I find any.
