Help Phone screen turns off too much?

So, when you're on the phone with the HTC EVO V 4G, the screen turns black, and when I go to hang up, I have to hit my power button, slide the lock disk up, type my pin number in, and then hang up. Are you serious? I must be missing something? Is there a fast way to hang up without having to go through all that stuff? It also feels like I need to do the security pin too often.

Increase your screen on duration in settings.

You can also set the pin to only be required after the phone has been locked for some amount of time, up to 15 minutes I think.
Also, I think my phone doesn't lock when I'm on a call, so that sounds weird.
