Phone signal strength

Lurker
Have had my Eris for a week and am adjusting to all the quirks mentioned in other posts. But phone service in my home is nearly non-existent. Sometimes I get 1 bar and sometimes none. Phone calls are garbled and have had several drops. My wife's LG phome on Verizon does much better.

Anyone having similar issues or any ideas on how to overcome this?

I've had sort of similar happenings.. I usually get a good 2 bars of 3G in my house, but at random times it jumps back to 1x..and when someone calls me it takes my 3G away and turns "Mobile Network" off...

I actually live in a very populated area with a strong Verizon network and I'm having similar issues (i.e. when calling from my house my signal fluctuates from full bars to zero-one, which causes my voice to cut out). I spoke w/VZW tech support and was told that it's a hit and miss issue with the software. In other words, some units have the problem and some don't. The new software upgrade is slated to roll out next month, which they believe will fix most, if not all, the "quirks" people have been experiencing.

The other solution was to do a hard reset, which essentially entails returning ALL settings to default. This will also remove any personal customization and contacts...no thanks. It also has to be done over the air, while a VZW or HTC (can't remember which) techie walks you through the process. My Eris is working great (no battery issues), and this isn't a chronic problem for me, so I'm waiting for the SW upgrade. Good luck!

Verizon is aware of this.
they suggest for a short term solution is to power cycle the phone.
this will be fixed 12/11/09

I live in Chicago and have been with vzw for a little under 8 years and i have never had a dropped call. I have had the eris for 27 days. the first one dropped 15 calls.VZW rep said its a bad phone so he gave me a new one. I have had the new one for 1 day and have dropped 2 calls so far. The eris will go back tomorrow.
