Phone: Samsung Galaxy S II.
ISP: Saunalahti.
Looks like this* is a common problem.
It's really annoying since you don't know if someone is calling you since there is no trace of the missed calls. I'm wondering if this is a problem with the hardware, software, ISP or if the phone is somehow trying to use the Wireless LAN for some reason and can't reconnect to the 3G network at the same time?

*Phone drops out of the newer 3G network (in order to connect to the older/slower 2G/GSM network) without connecting back to the 3G network afterwards.
