Help phone stopped working after 2.2 update

After i updated my phone to 2.2 with kies my phone hasnt been functioning correctly! i searched online for that patch, downloaded that and now my phone freezes, ill click on apps 10 times and they wont load, or they will load but freeze in the beginning to where i have to take the battery out, when i take pictures then go into the gallery they are not in there till a couple hours later. When i get a text my ringtone will keep going even after reading my text message and touching the screen so now i just keep it on vibrate. when i send text messages it sometimes says pending or failed but when i go into details it says SENT. Often when i go to text, the keyboard shows the letters and numbers i press but doesnt show up in the description box. when i close all apps in the task manager they will still be running.. like facebook and pandora.. when i tried putting a picture on my home screen it gave me a picture that i deleted a few days ago...:mad::confused::mad::confused::(


does anyone have a clue what is going on with my phone? it has become impossible and i dont know what to do! i regret ever updating it! i thought maybe i have too many apps and the memorys full so i started deleting apps but that didnt help.. so i started deleting widgets and apps on my home screens and that didnt help..i take out my battery 3-4 times a day because of it freezing.

is this a software issue?

when i clear the memory that number doesnt go down and i dont see a difference

seriously any advice would be greatly appreciated.. im ready to take a hammer to this damn thing!
 
Start with a battery pull while your phone is on and then restart your phone. If that doesn't improve things you can do a factory reset: Menu>Settings>Privacy>Factory data reset which will take you back to where you were before the 2.2 update. You will have to reinstall all of your apps, contacts, etc. afterwards. Another option is to take your phone to a USCC store that has a tech repair center. I have also had good luck with tech help over the phone, but you need to call USCC from another phone. There has been issues with 2.2.1 and the EE19 patch, especially using Kies. I just received a replacement phone.
 
this sucks man!! ill have to head down to the USCC place tomorrow and see what they can do for me. this whole process is a joke thanks for your reply! its greatly appreciated

shelly what update do you have? EC10 or EE19? The EC10 has a lot of issues. The EE19 addressed many of the problems.

It will be helpful to us if you can tell us which one you have. (Settings-->About Phone-->Build)

If you have the EC10 update, make sure you tell the tech at the USCC store that you want the EE19 update.
 
sorry it took so long to reply! i downloaded the 2.2.1 then the ee19. i went to us cellular today and my phone froze while the worker was messing around on it she told me i should do a factory data reset so i did.. still having problems so i called 611 an hour later.. told them everything. they were shocked that i was still having problems after the patch download so there sending me a new phone. i should recieve it by friday!


also! the factory data reset doesnt remove 2.2 it just removes all your files, contacts etc... you still have the 2.2 froyo update on the phone afterwards. at least for me it did! i tried going back to 2.1 and the lady said it was impossible :(
 
The factory wipe will not roll you back to 2.1. All it does is wipe off contacts, 3rd party apps, etc. and return the phone to "default" state.

That being said...when you get the replacement phone from USCC, as soon as you get it, verify what build version you have. If you do not have EE19, take it to the store to have them apply the update. (I received a replacement phone right after the EE19 was released, so it still had EC10 on it, not EE19) Do not download the mini kies update and apply it from your PC. The update that is completed at the store is a full factory wipe and install, so it is like the phone has never been used.
 
It is possible to go back to 2.1 on XDA forums there is a thread in the mesmerize forums that has the official USCC 2.1 download software. I'm not exactly sure where it is or who put it up , but it is there. I know cuz I rooted my phone and then I dropped it and had to have a phone replacement ,so I had to unroot and re-install the 2.1 before I sent the phone back( I know naughty me but hey who cares lol). Just go there ,hit the forums and search for it.
