Help Phone stuck in headset mode.

. A carefully inserted paper clip, and some compressed air did th trick.
My wife's LG had the same issue. I think putting in the headphone jack and taking it over loosened the lint up but didn't fix it. No compressed air so I put my lips to the jack and gave it a quick bit of suction that way. Instant fix. Occurred to me after that I was lucky it wasn't a bug :-D

I used a bread tie folded in half so the ends wouldn't poke anything with the exposed wires. The tie is thinner than a paperclip and the paper or plastic covering acts like a brush to remove the debris.

I just had this problem on my Samsung Galaxy S3. I tried plugging and unplugging the headset, didn't work.

What DID work, was turning off my phone and wait around 10 minutes, then turn it back on. Headphone mode is now off, and I can freely plug and unplug my headphones, with the mode following my actions.

Today I plugged my phone into my car stereo to listen to pandora. When I unplugged it the headphone icon turned into a headset icon. I have no headset and now it's stuck in headset mode. I cannot hear anyone who calls me, or talk to them. I did a quick search for this problem and found some response that suggested it had to do with the hearing aid function in call setting, but when I went into call setting, the hearing aid option was turned off. I've tried powering down and restarting but that did nothing. Please Help!

I'm running a rooted version of 2.1, i don't remember which one but it based on the last leaked version of 2.1.
An app called Soundabout will make it to any setting, though you should set it to let app decide.

To the person who posted this and any who decide to read this my phone just had the same exact problem I freaked out I could hear people but it was stuck in headset mode and I could not talk to them whatsoever they could not hear me. But after reviewing this forum I decide to try some of the things I try to offend lightly sticking in aq tip in my jacket just in case some liquid had gotten in then I finally figured out how to take off the back of the battery. Turns out I had some very minor drops of liquid in my phone and Jack so I put my shirt just like the sleeve over the jack and sucked the air through repetitively until it just disappeared. Hope this helps :-)

Had the same issue earlier today. Headphone icon stucked which made it impossible to hear.

I didn't know what to do after trying all the suggestions on the format. Another thread had suggested patting the phone. Suprisingly, after two palm pats it disappeared. Now it's working quite fine now.

What I found to work best is one of these brushes, (headphone Jack for scale).

The simple solution is always the best

Go into settings click on apps then find the call app, then click on force stop, followed by clear data/cache worked for me I have the LG stylo G.

This happened to me three times already. The first time it happened, I had to factory reset my phone because nothing I tried worked. It happened again a week later and it pissed me off cuz I didn't want to factory reset my phone again. I said F*** it and left headphones plugged into my phone overnight. The next day I took the headphones out to see if my phone would work and it did. It happened again last night and I did the same thing and it worked again. So before anyone tries to factory reset their phones, try leaving headphones in overnight. If that doesn't work then do what you think might help.

Hi ,
I recently had this problem in my Redmi Note 3. i tried rebooting, removing and inserting headphones but nothing worked. The heaphone symbol was still showing and my speakers wouldn't let out anything thinking there are headphones.
I finally found that the reason was, Rocket player, the music player i use. It had permissions to play when heaphones are connected.
I disabled the feature and everything worked like a charm.
Not sure if this could be useful but see if any third party software is accessing the headphone sw.

here's an idea that i had and i had this problem today, try calling someone, put it on speaker mode, then hang up, or wait for it to go to voicemail, idk if that will do the trick, but it worked for me

You saved my phone guys. Water fell all over it. My solution (as said here) was to put a small paper in the jack slot, and alternatively remove the paper and blow the jack slot. Fixed it in 10sec. Thanks again!

Headset symbol is stuck in my phone's notifications. I tried cleaning it, plugging and unplugging headsets. I think it's a software issue I tried using the apps recommend by other users who faced the same issue but it says "headsets are plugged in." I also tried a factory reset. No results. I can test alarm tones and the key tones but no music nor can I make calls and watch videos.

Thanks TG63! While I wasn't really into sucking bugs out of the jack...one good pass with a vacuum hose and crevice tool and fixed!
