Root Phone stuck in infinite bootlop

My Motorola Defy MB525 went into an infinite bootloop just a few minutes ago after I tried to flash a UOT kitchen zip (I'm a noob when it comes to these matters). I backed up my CM7 today. I have no idea how to restore the backup( also when I try to go into hboot it just shows an android with an exclamation mark). Any help would be very appreciated.

Welcome to Android Forums.

Thread moved from Android Lounge to the sub-forum dedicated to root-related questions for this phone.

Progress on the issue: I didn't realize that I have to push VOL up+down to get the menu access. I've done a factory reset and now I'm stuck in that google screen when the phone's booting. What should I do?

no idea if it is the same version but found some info here on unbricking the defy here

How to UnBrick or flash a Defy firmware(.sbf) - Simply Android

actually checked that maybe it is a bit old, some of the links do not work.

probably best checking the xda-developers forums for unbricking guides

Thank you so much! I managed to unbrick my phone and it's stock rom. My final question is: is my phone still rooted? I read that after a factory wipe all that's left to do is to download the superuser app, but does this apply to reflashing firmware?

You can get root checker app off google play. If you see superuser app on your phone, that indicates you're rooted, but still get an app to check, as it's not always the case, even if su is there.

If you already got the custom rom you can pull the battery, power on & press the vol- button when you see the blue LED, you'll get into recovery.

From there you can flash rom. Some roms are in a zip file so you need to choose zip file from card. Or if you have backup (nandroid) you go in backups & restore.

As long as you can get into recovery you're safe.

Custom roms are rooted, if you went back to stock then you need to root. Search for root with super one click (PC) or Framaroot app (root from phone).
