Help Phone stuck on "M Android" screen after software update

I've got the bigger and newer version of the Moto G, and I ran a software update process as requested. But now my phone is stuck on the "M Android" screen and I can't do anything. If I hold down the power button then the screen eventually goes off, but then it just comes on again. If I connect it to my PC nothing happens. Am I going to have to remove the 14 or so screws so that I can shut it down by removing the battery? And will removing the screws invalidate my warranty? It's less than a year old.

The battery is not removable. It's under a plate, under the back cover and if you try to remove that you will break the water resistant seal.

Are you saying you got the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update? I didn't think it was available yet for any Motorola phone.

Mine was under warranty so I sent it off and had it fixed. Not sure what I would have tried if outside the warranty. Maybe contact Moto.
