Help Phone Stuck On Splash

This has happen a few times but it may be long in between times. Last night it was on okay and I decided to restart it since it was sluggish. It starts up like normal and then past the Samsung name screen and the colorful splash screen appears, is when it got stuck. I turned it off by the power button and took the battery out a few times and it kept coming back to the splash screen. After about the 4th or 5th try, I left the battery out for about 30 minutes, since it felt warmer then normal. It finally came back on to normal.

Any ideas what may be causing this? I've done a factory reset once and really do not want to do it again unless really neccessary. It is not rooted or using any special Roms.

Thnx.

Try removing the SIM and booting, if it will boot fully you may have a bad SIM card. Otherwise the most likely cause is a corrupt ROM (more common than you would expect in this device) and if you are not rooted/with custom recovery, which is still questionable if you wish to remain stock, the only option would be a warranty replacement or different device.

I'll try removing the Sim, next time it happens. Thanks for the info. I have since restarted the phone and it came up normally. It just happens every so often.

If I was to try for a replacement, I wonder what type of phone I would get? I really wouldn't want a used/refurbished Strat. but I do understand that may be what I would get.

I'm pretty much satisfied with mine, I've had it over a year without having to replace it.

Thnx.

The phone got stuck on the splash screen again Saturday and I had to do a factory reset. I did take the Sim out and started the phone but it didn't make a difference.

I guess I had around 60 or so apps installed but didn't reinstall all of them this time. I'll try to see if any particular app may be causing the issue, such as LookOut.

Hmmm... if this issue continues I would contact Verizon tech support and let them know what it is doing and that you have done a factory reset at least twice, they will likely recommend a replacement of the device and if you got it from Verizon and not a reseller they will probably offer it for free, warranty or not.

Just an update. Since the factory reset and not installing all the apps I had previously, it seems not to get stuck while booting. Also I didn't install LookOut, not to say it was causing the issue. I may reinstall it at a later time just to make sure what may have caused the issue. I'll pay close attention to any apps I install from this point on.

Thnx.

"Mobile Security" and anti-virus on an Android phone is not really needed for 98% of people, if all your apps come from the Play Store and other reputable repositories you shouldn't have an issue, so I would just skip LookOut, AVG, Avast or whatever else is out there.

I would however recommend a locating service, like WheresMyDroid, it comes in very handy at times.
