phone temperatures?

It doesn't seem to take much before my phone reaches an internal temperature of 100'F. Is this normal? Using it in this condition can sometimes be a little tender on my fingers.

A quick look online shows that you should be fine until it jumps up past 110-140F.
The only things I can think that would increase the temperature apart from a faulty battery are using the device whilst charging, or having warm hands/a case that absorbs heat.

Your sensor shows the temperature of the phone's battery. Because it's the phone's most sensitive component.

The Li-Ion battery's temperature operating range is:
for discharging -20C (-4F) to +60C (+140F).
for charging 0C (+32F) to +45C (+113F).
