Help Phone to Tablet / Cell Disable

I have an older LG Esteem "Metro PCS"
I would really love to utilize it for Wifi only.
So my question is there a way to install a different OS version to unclutter the functions and make it a true tablet instead of a disabled cell phone?

No, you would need an OS built specifically for your device. There are custom ROMS which you could install. They would support cellular network but you could rid yourself of some bloatware to give you more storage. To do these things, you will need to root your device. Wishful thinking I guess. For what I use it for it does fine. Just get tired of the sim card icons and metro logos on everything.
