If you are talking about Android devices:
- Android Device Manager (free)
- Cerberus (free 7-day trial in the Play Store then you pay for a lifetime license for up to 5 devices

If you are talking cross platform:
- Prey

Right now technology is only good enough to pinpoint it to the house - not the couch cushion it is under. However Android Device Manager can lets you remotely ring your phone from the web (others probably do as well).

The technology is definitely able to pinpoint it exactly...

However, there's buult in limitations on civilian GPS capabilities.

Well, yeah, plus the fact that you probably won't get a GPS signal in your house anyway ....
