Help Phone turns off spontaneously, then can't turn back on

BLACKACRE

Lurker
Hello!

These incidents have occurred maybe a dozen random-seeming times since I purchased the phone, and only when I am not using it and it is not plugged into a charger or computer, but the thing simply shuts off w/o any fuss, no sound or screen action, etc, it is just off when I pick it up.

I keep it fully or almost fully powered up, so it is not running out of juice then turning off, it just silently turns off on its own. Moreover, the bigger problem is that I then can't turn it back on. Only if I plug it into a charger or a computer will it acknowledge the "turn on" command. Again, it is usually charged up so it is not running out of power.

Anyone else experience this? Is there some function I'm not aware of that I need to turn off or something?

Any information would be appreciated!
Thanks

Just checking to be sure ...

Is it shutting completly off or is it just not waking up fully ?

When phone is "sleeping" and you press MENU does anything happen ?

It shuts down completely. No response when I touch MENU key, or any other key for that matter. Just when I plug something in does it trigger something and become functioning again.

Is this still happening with your phone? What build number is your phone? Did this start happening after an update? It started happening to me after an update that came after cupcake.

I talked to a couple of people at work who had a similar problem. They all mentioned that replacing the battery resolved the issue. I tried this over the weekend, and now my phone is behaving properly.
