Phone update causing problems

RockyRR

Lurker
I'm new to this forum, so this may be a known issue. I have a Motorola Bionic.

Yesterday I installed a "system" update that was sent to me. I assume it was an android system update because the main screens have changed. Now I have 3 problems that I didn't have before. They are:

1. the built in email app will no longer work
2. the battery runs down quicker
3. signal strength meter shows weaker signal at locations where, before update, signal was strong

What's going on here? How do I correct? Can I go back to my previous version?

Thanks folks,
Rocky

First off welcome to the forums RockyRR!

It is known with OTA updates that they may make your phone become unstable and such, basically what you are experiencing.

The best way to solve this issue would be through a factory reset. Save all your things....Gmail for Contacts, Google Play for apps, and Google Music for Music...

Sorry about your luck!

Thanks for your feedback. I don't know how to do a factory reset, but I can learn. How do I save all my phone contacts, email addresses (I don't use Gmail), etc.; and then, get them back into my phone? Also, what about all the apps I have installed? Do I have to re-install all of them? If so, re-install from where? For the apps I bought, do I have to buy them again?

Is there any guide available that covers how to restore all this stuff?

Thanks again,
Rocky

P.S. The installed email app that is not working now is still using 26% of my battery power.....go figure.

If you go into your Contacts app there should be an Import/Export option in the settings. Use that to export your phonebook to the sd card. You can then import them back in after a reset.

Thanks, that sounds like it will take care of the contacts.
