Help Phone was dropped in water; wont boot.

My HTC Amaze was dropped in water, i pulled it out, threw it in rice, and let it sit for a few weeks. Now, it starts up, but will not boot up. it just sits on the HTC screen. Is this a lost cause? Or could i possibly save it by flashing it.

Hello xPrometheusx. Welcome to Android Forums. I'm in the same camp with MP. After a few days drying and it won't boot, it's very likely a lost cause.... sorry. At this point, you have nothing to lose but your time however, so a root and rom is an option. It is possible that with the circuits being shorted when the phone was wet that there was a mass of file corruption and now a lack of bootable OS.

Best of luck to you and I'm certainly sorry to hear of your loss.

Hello xPrometheusx. That long in the rice was not necessary. 24 hours would have been enough, then the next step of applying liberal amounts of alcohol (not booze ;)) everywhere in the device you can get to, all the ports and under the battery, etc.. being real sloppy with the alcohol is good, can remove the remaining (sometimes invisible) moisture along with just about all of the "pre-corrosion." After that, let all the alcohol evaporate, only about 5 minutes or so, then replace the battery and sometimes that fixes it.

The corrosion likely began while the device was in the rice too long, sadly. I'd still try the alcohol before anything else. Can't hurt. ;)
