Phone went black.??

Ok panic has set in :(... I was on the bus listening to Spotify. All of a sudden it cut out. I thought maybe it was a BT issue. Then I looked at my phone. The screen was black. I couldn’t bring up the home screen or any screen. I do hear the clicking noise when I tap the power button but can’t bring up a screen. I did see the time displayed and my signature on the screen, once the phone goes to sleep.

Any ideas what to do? Or Try? I did plug the phone in just because. But I know when percent.

Sad day but hope there are things I can try. I have had nothing previous suggesting a hardware issue.

Thanks for any help

Soft reset is our friend.
Maybe you accidentally turned on a camera with your finger over it? I don't know why it happens but some button combination turns that on when you power on.

The only other time that happened to me I was reading an e-book and was at a blank page between chapters.
I use white text with a black background.
I could see the stuff in the statusbar on top and the keys on the bottom for less than a second but after just black.

While you were listening, was the phone getting warm? Sometimes thermal protection circuits will cut the power to prevent damage to sensitive components. But the time you reboot, it's had a chance to cool down.

Oh hmm I didn’t notice or feel any noticeable warmth. It definitely through me for a loop though. Anxiety set in on the bus. I walked home in about 10 minutes. First thing I thought was to plug it in. It obviously came back, nothing weird has happened since. Touch wood.

Thanks
