Phone without apps.

[Rockin64]

I just got my first cell phone a Motorola Citrus but it has so many preinstalled apps that I don't want that I can't add the few I do want. The phone was cheap only 60 bucks but I would have paid twice that for a phone without preinstalled apps. I guess they make money somehow by putting the apps on there, but it looks like they could make more money by offering phones without apps & charging more for them than the ones with preinstalled apps. Are there any phones without preinstalled apps?

A possible solution is to get one of the many phones that are supported by CyanogenMod, then replace its firmware with CyanogenMod.

Only the Nexus line of phones. These preinstalled apps are usually put on there by the carrier. They are commonly referred to as "Bloatware". Most cannot be removed without Rooting the phone.

It's also worth noting that pre-installed apps usually live in a different storage partition from user apps, so removing them doesn't automatically give you more space. There are ways of dealing with this, but you need to root to use them too.
