Help Phone won't start, when charging it powercycles

jaco2015

Lurker
My phone was in my pocket yesterday with a full charge. It turned off, and wouldn't turn back on. I tried to charge it and it just starts for about 5 seconds (during which I cannot power it on) and turns off. I have tried two different batteries, removing the batteries etc. I even tried to do the hard reset to no avail. I have not modded my phone in any way, and installed only a couple apps. Please help!!

Welcome to the forums, jaco. :)

What method did you use in attempting the hard reset? Read here for the different methods:

Hard Reset - Casio

So it only powers on for the first 5 seconds, no matter how you turn it on? This is a first. I don't know how to fix that. Just a question, i guess to narrow down some options. Consider the phone booting in 4 phases
1. The unlit G'Zone icon.
2. The lit up G'Zone "now loading" icon.
3. The the light coming on for recovery.
4. The boot animation playing.
How many of these steps does the phone get through?

I was hoping someone would respond and solve my problem, but I'm not one to sit around and wait.

I found out that my SD card had become "unlocked". Specifically, the SD card holder was no longer in the locked positon.
I tried everything, static reset ( hold down power or camera button with battery out), hitting my phone on the floor, yelling at my dog (made me feel better, but didn't help), even went to the verizon store (expected a salesman to know...), they told me it was dead and tried to sell me a new phone.

Hopefully this helps I had the same issue for 3 days-- made me wonder what people did on toilets before smartphones

GOOD LUCK!

I find that the cycling happens sometimes when I charge from the dock or from a less powerful cord. If I charge directly from the side usb port with my best quality charger, I can usually get past the cycling (for me this usually happens when the battery is very low). Recently it has been draining instead of charging when sitting on the dock. I can put down the phone with a full charge, and come back 2 hours later to a phone that is cycling, with a dead battery.
