Help Phone wont work in rain

Hi All

Last weekend while coaching football to my team we had a heavy rain shower, i tried to phone parents to come and collect kids, would not work, after about 20 mins once got home, texting and internet OK bit still no phone, removed battery phone would not start up. Eventually itn started but now wont close down using button, and if i remove battery it takes about 30-40 mins to start.
Sent for repair it is only six weeks old, they wont replace.
Any ideas?

How wet did the phone get? You may need to take everything out and put it in dry rice for a few days to dry everything up. I know I have seen some very smart folks on here describe this in detail. I am going to find one of their posts and link it back here.

As pupkact suggested, the best method is to stick it in a box of rice in a warm cupboard for 48 hours (at least). Even if it happened a while back, there could still be residual moisture so I'd still attempt to dry it out before using it again.

I've used my phone in the rain countless times (where I am, it always rains at least once a day) and never thought anything of it, so I can understand why you thought it was safe.

Just a quick Update.
Had phone call from the repair centre confirming, liquid damage. They also told me "that i should not use the phone in the rain, in fact any phone".
Can you believe it!!!!!
It now has to go through insurance.
Thanks for the advice on how to recifie problem

Sorry to here. I do appreciate that you circled back to let us know. I sometimes wonder how folks make out with their problems.

wow! i read the title and thought 'of course not'. what makes you think it works in the rain. it's ELECTRIC.

In the heat of the moment, you often do things that in hindsight can be a little foolish. At least the the OP won't make the same mistake again. It's very unfortunate that he has had to learn the hard way.

Fwiw, I often use my handset when it's raining and I've never had any problems.
