Why wont my phone turn on? Its been dead for 5 weeks and i put it on the charger for an hour?

In one hour the battery will barely have enough charge to turn on and die. Leave it onn charge at least 24 hours. (I have one doing that at the moment. The battery is about 8 years old, but who knows? It may charge.)
