Phones 4 u bournemouth in stock

Went to town to watch football so popped into Phones 4 u.
Signs said "although this phone is not on display we may have some in stock"
So I talked to the manager...he confirmed that they had plenty in stock but due to the exclusive timing they were only allowed to sell them on to contracts.
I wanted sim free and he said he would love to sell to me sim free but powers above would kill him due to the above.
He would of bought out my contract if it ran out in less than 6 months but alas it is due in March 2012.
He said come back in a week or so when the exclusive is up and then they can sell sim free.:(

will leave it to play.com simfree order which is due out on 3rd May....but if anyone wants a new contract or upgrade they have plenty in stock.

They had a big display out but no actual signs about prices on either sim free or contract, which is why I asked the manager.

He said they had been told that they must sell all to contracts for the exclusive time, he seemed genuine.

Maybe I should of asked someone else who was just a weekend temp and may not have known or cared about exlcusive times.

I picked up my SIM-Free jobby from Bournemouth Phones4U this morning.

I cancelled my order with Amazon because although they were cheaper on price they were going to take another week to get it to me :D

What, who did you see?
Did they have any on display?
They had the big display about half way into store on the left.....not happy they told me to wait until next week.
Wonder if they hadn't sold well on contract so got the ok to sell sim free...I was suprised they had stock when alot of other places don't.

Just gonna wait for my play.com order to come instead, I can cope with my Desire for a few days more.

I got it from the branch on Old Christchurch Road.
I called them first thing this morning and they put it by for me (I collected it a couple of hours later).

The seal was broken on the box, the battery was already inserted (is this normal?) and when I first booted up I noticed their wireless connectoid was available.
I presume all three of these things should not be.
I don't suppose they check each phone before selling it do they?
Should the battery come "separately" in the box or could I expect it to be fitted?

I suspect they only took it out and powered it up for a quick look when it first came in so haven't bothered to make a fuss anyway. After all it can't be any more than 1 or 2 days old ;)
There isn't a single fingerprint on it.

EDIT: I just called them and they said that they probably popped the battery in just to show a customer for half a minute and then it went back its box. So I feel a bit better now that my phone's not second hand LOL.

There is another branch just up from the one I went in but that looks smaller.

how much did you get urz for at phones4u sim free?

I guess it's less relevant now but they had a sign out saying the sim-free price of 529 and pay as you go 499.
The one thing they did say was that it wasn't available with a 3 contract(or 3 payg) yet (even though the price sign had a 3 logo along with all the others)
I had read on the internet it would only be available on contract for the first week...
I was only in there 5 mins and only spoke to one bloke...
