how do i download pics from dropbox to my gallery on my andriod phone

If you browse to Dropbox.com on your web browser, usually there is an option to download them. However, I find it generally easier to download them to my computer first, and then transfer them.
Try the Dropbox app on your device:

Use the app to navigate your files, select the file (image) you've like to save, and press the menu button or the three vertical dots/ellipsis and choose Export. The Export menu will have a ton of options for you, including saving to your SD card, etc.
