Hi,
I would like recommendations as to what photo viewer would be good for this device.
It is not connected to the net (much too slow), so I will want to download the apk.
Thanks,
... john

ok can you explain in detail what is going? what happens when you boot up? what happened to the phone to get to its current state? just remember the more details you provide the better we can help.

Hi ocnbrze,
Alright. I'll try my best, but I don't know much about these tablets.
I've had this Allwinner A23 for a long time, have rooted and overclocked it, quite a while ago. And recently I put an application on that causes it to freeze after booting into the OS. (I can't recall the name of the app, sorry). The only way I can turn it off is to hold the power button down. When I press the power button the shutdown menu comes up, but will not respond to touch.
I have tried the various remedies suggested on the net, i.e. holding power and up volume buttons, until restart, followed by wiping the cache and factory resets. Still, noting prevents the screen freeze. (The factory reset shows a slightly different screen after starting; but it does not respond either.) I can boot into the recovery mode, and I have tried as much as I could, with no joy. The external storage option does not have any entries, even with the SD card installed, which seems strange to me. I can access the OS using ADB in Windows 7. In desperation, I've tried deleting a couple of apps but when I restart ADB they're still there, so I suspect that ADB is only reading the system. Frankly, I don't think that I'm getting access to the OS from Windows 7
It's not a bad tablet for pictures and music. The OS seems to be there but it just won't allow me to do anything.
Here's what I know about it:
It's the Pandigital white 7" screen
Android version 4.22 firmware 2.0.8
A23 processor
Model Q8H
Rooted and overclocked.
I posted a request for help on AndroidTablet.net a while ago, but they seem unable to help. Here's the link.

Hi ocnbrze,
Thanks for your work. I downloaded the A23-T739 flash file and followed the instructions given here https://androidmtk.com/use-rockchip-factorytool. I made it to #6, which told me to load the firmware file - A23-T739-MAINBOARD-V2.2 JTX [(Gtab P700+)LCD Problem Fixed)].img. When I tried to do this I received and error message "Loading Firmware Failed". (I noticed that "Loader" was not present under Device Type - see #9.) That's as far as I got.
In Windows 7 Device Manager I have a listing "Android Device" and a sub listing "Android ADB Interface". When I check the properties it says, "This Device is Working Properly" and lists the manufacturer as "Google USB" .
The really odd thing is that when the tablet is connect to my computer I see two new drive letters in Explorer - G: and H: . When I check their properties I see a solid blue disk with capacity "0"; and when I try to do a disk check it tells me that Windows can't access the disk. So, I think Windows is missing something.
Thanks again for your help.

Hi,
I have been able to gain access to my tablet by connecting a mouse to the USB port via OSG. Now I can see everything; but I haven't been able to determine why it won't respond to my touch. The mouse works fine. There is one app, which I probably installed, and may be the cause of my problems; it's 'prop editor' (com.jrummy.apps.build. prop.editor). When I click on it's app icon I only get a screen flash and nothing happens. I would remove it, if I knew how.
I'd appreciate any help.
Thanks,

Hi,
There must be some way I can run this thing without the mouse attached, or maybe install another OS? Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks,
.......... john
