Apps Physical device not detected

Hi

I just got 'my first app' working on Eclipse, but I can't use my physical device as a target. I have Android 2.3 Gingerbread, Samsung Galaxy Ace(aka Cooper), Win 7. Latest versions of Eclipse and ADT. On adb devices, it doesn't show up, only the emulator if that's on.

USB Debugging is turned on and I downloaded three different drivers: the one Windows automatically downloads, one using USBDriverTool and the Universal ADB Driver.

If it's relevant, I also had trouble installing the ADT plugin with Eclipse, I posted about it here in a seperate thread.

Can anyone help?

I too have been having problems with getting my phone to connect correctly to my laptop. I've got win XP and I got it to work once.

Does your phone show up in the device manager?
 
Yes, it shows up in Device Manager no problem, it says 'Samsung Android Phone' then when I open the menu, 'Samsung Android Interface'.
 
Sorry for the delay.

It used to appear in My Computer as 'Massive Storage Device' or something similar, maybe before I changed the drivers, but now it doesn't appear anymore.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'what am I mounting it as' I mount it with my USB, in device manager it's called 'Samsung Android Phone', I just noticed as well, when I go to safely eject the device, it's called: BCM21553-Thunderbird, I have no idea what that is.
 
That's what happened to me. I had it working after I installed HTC sync for my phone. Then they did an update and it no longer has worked since. I'm ok with using the emulator for now but its damn slow. I'm using win XP though.

When I say "mount" I mean that, on your phone, after you plug in the usb cable to it. Under the notification bar you should be able to choose to select a specific way that your phone is connecting to the computer. I don't have my cable with to test out.

Also, I searched for "BCM21553-Thunderbird" I found this.

I just plug it in and it connects automatically, the only option I get is to 'connect mass storage' which I tried and got no better results.

Yeah, I use the emulator too, like you say it's quite slow, I'd like to be able to put the app on the phone as well and show it to people. Oh well I guess.
 
Ok, well, I uninstalled the driver again and this time when it re-installed it worked. I swear I had already tried that but maybe I didn't, anyway I'm just posting in case it's of use to anyone with the same problem. I ran one of my apps on the physical device and it worked fine, best of luck ProjectLiquid and anyone else with the same problem.
 
Hi.

If you are using HTC, go to task manager and stop the running HTC process

or

Remove/Stop HTC sync. This was happening on my HTC Sensation
