I have a Droid Maxx; I believe that the interface is the same.

What you should be able to do is long-press on one of the pictures in the Gallery, then tap the other ones that you want to include in the message, and then tap the messaging share icon in the toolbar (the green icon) to launch messaging with the two photos attached.

At least on a Verizon phone, you will then get a ridiculous message that the attachments is too large, only one photo will be included, and not much else.

You would think that you can share a slideshow. From the messaging app, start composing a message to the recipient. Touch the paperclip icon at the top, choose slideshow. Add the number of slides for the photos that you want to send. Start adding photos. Again, on Verizon at least, after adding the second photo you'll get a message that says that the message is too large and the photo cannot be added.

Totally ridiculous. The messaging app should be able to reduce the size of the photos in order to include multiple photos, even if that means sending postage stamps.

If you are not on Verizon, you should see if either solution works. If not, you may be able to use a third-party editing app to reduce the size of the photos that you want to share and send the reduced-sized copies.

I believe that MMS attachments are limited to 1.2 MB on Verizon, so if you wanted to include two photos, you'd probably want them reduced to about 550 MB each.

I installed the app QuickPic https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alensw.PicFolder, copied two photos to a separate folder, and edited them separately to 640 x 350. From within QuickPic I was then able to multiple select them (by tapping and holding on one, and then the other), chose the share menu, then messaging, and that worked without an error message.

I'm not sure about your iPhone contact question. I'll ask somebody with an iPhone to share a contact with me and I'll see what happens.
