I'm using a Huawei ascend mate 2 unlocked u.s. version phone.. recently wen I go into the stock gallery to look at my pics everything disappears.. pics vids saved screenshots etc.. luckily I have everything saved to sdcard.. it has done this in the past and over a course of a week or so everything is back in the gallery.. didn't think anything of it.. and now only some pics n screenshots r back... Any help as to y this happens appreciated..

I'm trying to think about this here... the only thing I can think of is that maybe you have Google Photos installed (which is a cloud-based photo backup service, it's free and highly recommended) and the option to free up space is checked in its Settings. That effectively moves your photos and videos to the cloud and deletes them off the local device. You still have them, just out there and not on your phone.

If that doesn't apply, you might want to contact Huawei. Chances are good that they will suggest a factory reset.

Thx chief... I have Google photo installed but I don't use it.... never have... I use the factory gallery and also a+ gallery photo...

So i had to make new files and cut paste pics from sdcard to specific files.. and now they show back up in the stock gallery.... Example..In the dcim file I had to make new file called photos.. go to sdcard picture folder and move all saved pics to the new dcim photo tab.... Don't know y.. but it worked..

Your SD card may also be corrupted. Or, if you bought a high-capacity card for a really good price, it may be counterfeit. Try an app called SD Insight to verify that your card is legitimate.

Gallery apps are different than Google Photos, in that they provide different ways to display the photos on your device. Google Photos, however, backs up every photo to a secure, cloud-based location on the Google servers (which really aren't going anywhere for a long, long time). If your phone is destroyed or the SD card becomes corrupted, and all your onboard photos are lost, they are all safely backed up. And it goes on and on, from one Android phone to the next and the next... because they are all tied to your Google account. If you haven't enabled Photos to back up your stuff before, I would strongly recommend you do that. It doesn't cost anything extra: and the peace of mind is really nice.

:)

Thx again chief... My sdcard is a pny 64gb card I bought from best buy.. don't c it being corrupted or counterfeit but gna chk it out ... Also not a fan of using clouds yet... Don't like the idea of my stuff floating out there.... Mabe I'll become a fan of them soon tho...
