Pictures in messages

I have a really basic question about your options when you receive a picture in a message. When I press and hold the image 3 options show up. View, save, and share. View and save are pretty obvious but what does share do for me?

This is for a Droid Razr MAXX.

If you have a supported app (Facebook, Twitter, Evernote, etc...) Share is a way of sending the picture directly to that app.
