How do I do group chat? I can't figure it out. I tried sending a new message to two contacts thinking it would start one, but it says that they don't have Pingchat, when they clearly do.
 
No permanent groups like BBM. Thats all i have been looking for. I have tried at least 5 apps and none do it.

Just a simple chat app that has permanent groups (with no icon always in the notification area). Where a bunch of people can chat, share pics, and audio. Like BBM that works on android/iphone/BB.

Does anyone have any more suggestions for an app i can try?
 
Yeah I cannot see any option for group chat. Would also like to have the option to setup permanent groups like on my old blackberry.

Using latest version from the Market.
 
Worked out how to do it. Would be nice to be able to rejoin a chat group if needed.

BTW to group chat just send a message to multiple users at the same time.
 
Okay, I don't know why my post was deleted, but it was.

I was wondering if you're planning to add more customization to the app? It would be great to be able to change the ringtone, the bubble colors, etc. And having the LED light flash for notifications is a must.

Will you ever offer a paid ad-free version?

Otherwise, this is a really nice app. I have been using it on my Motorola Droid and I got my friend with a BlackBerry Tour to use it. So it's been working out well so far.
 
HUGE issue with my contacts. All my Ping contacts were deleted. When I tried to add them back and link them to my contacts it says they've already been linked to a PingChat contact. Tried uninstalling and unregistering but it still doesn't work

Solved: Had to go into my contact's info and delete the Ping data.

Any idea why it force closes almost every time I (& many others) go into the app? Quite frustrating, I hope that gets addressed too :)
 
so with this i should be able to talk to my old BBM buddies? although i do not have their Cell, i have the BB Pin #'s ....

I WISH there was an app for Android that would allow chats with people in BBM, but that is not the case here. It is cross-platform, but it's a seperate app that the other user also needs to have installed. Just similar to BBM
 
Ping is great, however with the majority of contacts being BB users I end up using Yahoo since most of them has it as well, stock SMS is slow so between BBM on my BB and Yahoo elsewhere is easier for me. Hopefully stuff like google chat and Ping gets picked up more sooner or later, I even tried talking my sister into switching to google talk.
 
I like the UI of the app :-) Not tried it yet as nobody I know uses it.

One issue though which i'm trying to sort out with my network.

Many of us transfer numbers from previous contracts to our new phones. I did this and the number still programmed into the sim is the old number. Pingchat autodetects this so I can't register it would my number.

It would be good to have a manual number entry to get around this :P
 
Not sure if this is a problem with the app, or apple. But for some reason getting a reply from iPhone users takes HOURS.

A little frustrating.

Yup tried it with an iPhone buddy, I thought it didn't work but it finally came up about an hour later. LOL
