Pinning Texts

I just switched to the LG G8 Thinq from a Samsung Galaxy S9+. On the Galaxy, I could pin text conversations to the top of the list of conversations so I wouldn't have to hunt it down every time. I can't seem to find an option for that on the LG. Is that a phone feature or an Android feature?
 
That feature must be software dependent. I use Messages by Google for Android. I use it so I can text from my laptop. Other apps cost money and don't work well. I've never seen the pin feature, myself.
