Help Plan on Rooting

i am planning on rooting my Motorola Atrix 2 but, the only thing holding me back is if i will still recieve OTA such as ICS over the summer.

I have read a few threads here and there that if you root and just keep the Stock Rom, you will be able to recieve and install OTA, but it will unroot your phone. Is all this true? Also what way would you recomend rooting this phone while keeping the Stock Rom.

Is possible it will be a lot of help if i got an answer asap. Thanks! :)

An update will more than likely un-root your phone.

Reports of this happening w/a SOAK TEST for an update to the MOTOROLA PHOTON have been posted @ XDA & MOTOROLA FORUMS as recent as yesterday.

I'm willing to bet the same would happen w/the ATRIX 2.

As for updates being pushed to a rooted phone OTA, it's possible, but, the more you un-bloat your phone, the less likely you'll see an OTA update.

Although, that shouldn't prevent you from installing the update from another source, once it's released.
