play store in foreign countries

I live in Canada, Recently I bought a House in Southern France, to my great disappointment, the play store would not give me access to local french apps, mainly the local bank app & some major store chain apps. How do I resolve this problem?
Thanks

Hello Bozo The Clown welcome welcome to AF. :)

There is a possible workaround. Do you have a PC and a VPN(Virtual Private Network) that gives you a Canadian IP address? Which is something you would need to watch Canadian TV in France.

This is something I found that works for me, I'm in China and the Play Store here sucks. Login to Play from your PC and you should then get the country that the VPN is going into, e.g. US, UK, Canada etc. Reset the Play Store on your Android device, clear data and cache. And you should then be able to install items that were showing as incompatible or not available in this country, which would be your "local french apps, mainly the local bank app & some major store chain apps"

See Google geo-restricts the Play Store, to ensure they're not distributing content outside of the countries they're licensed for.

Even if you're not interested in movies and TV shows, it's still the same Play Store country lock-down though. Yes it sucks for international travellers and expats, but Google has to do it to keep in Hollywood's good books. I'm in a similar position, I want the US or UK Play Store even though I'm in China, because what's available here is limited free apps only, nothing else, and I do wish to use apps that are not available in China.

Hi

I think your best bet is to use the services via your Web browser. Most banks shops etc allow you to do this - most without vpn. I live in france but have some uk bank accounts. The bank apps are unavailable whatever I do but their websites all work fine on my phone.

I moved this to the Android Applications forum where I think the OP will get some more eyes on it.:)
