hi guys,

anyone else see this sometimes - mainly with play store but some times with other apps - they wont load - just white screen - if i go to recents and clear all then app loads ok - so assume it must be a memory issue

cheers

I've seen none of that.

You're on Viper, yes?

Wait - you're on stock?

Not surprising, stock memory management leaves a lot to be desired most always.

Viper will make that go away, or you can start tuning kernel and memory parameters by hand. Other roms ought to have that sorted out as well.

I've done my own tuning often. If you haven't, I'll just say that so long as I can get to a properly optimized rom, I won't do it if I don't have to.

hi EM,
ah ok cool thanks - yes im still on stock - mmm...another reason to viper then i feel :D
cheers

Yeah, don't fear the Venom.

Do the stock install, it starts out not looking different than stock - except new toys when you pull down your status bar or go to your main settings.

Then - explore and customize your theme elements and behaviors.

But right off the bat, enjoy better performance.

Way better. :)

cool ... im SO tempted now :D

am i right in saying that it will flash without s-off? im sure ive seen someone here say they have done that - ive only flashed before once s-off :/

thanks

Certainly.

Make sure that you do a nandroid backup.

The latest TWRP doesn't get along with the touch feature on the Aroma installer, so volume up and down through menu choices, tap power to select. Wipe from within the Aroma installer.

nice one EM - many thanks - its almost to close now to resist! :D

btw - just out of interest - the wipe from within aroma - does it do a better job than manually wiping?

cheers

That's model and generation dependent.

The dev team can specify what the wipe is and does in Aroma.

The Venom team I was on had ours tuned to that model of phone, as we'd gone through TWRP growing pains. .

The minimum case is it saves you having to navigate the TWRP menus that do the same thing when working.

On the LTEvo if I wiped in TWRP then tried to flash Viper from Aroma it would fail. Skipped the wipe in TWRP and did the wipe within aroma, success. :)

I've tried it both ways with the M8 and I haven't had any failures yet, fwiw. If provided, always follow the developers procedures for rom uploads, then profit! :D
