I know this question has been asked a million times, but while searching the forums, I found many different replies... many of them out of date.

1. What apk(s) do I need to install the Play Store to a generic tablet that does not have it originally?

2. Where do I get it/them?
 
Hello and welcome to the forums . I see you are having a problem with your tablet . May i take the time to ask what is the make and model and are you rooted . If you are u can ad apks .
 
It's a Trio Stealth 4.3 that was given to me. Neat little tablet, but no Android Market app. I have Mobile 1, Amazon, and SlideMe markets installed, but all the good stuff is on the Play Store.
 
Ok you can try but some tablets you cant change or ad apks til u are rooted . Now if it was rooted you could google for the latest playstore . But all u need is the playstore apk its 4.1.6
 
Apparently this little tablet comes already rooted. So, that is probably the way to go. Any suggestions as to the best place to download?
 
Once u get this apk playstore apk 4.1.6 . You download from the tablet to the sd card . Then goto the download section from the file explorer and open the the download section goto the playstore apk 4.1.6. Now tap the apk til it ask you if you want to replace this apk you hit yes
 
To download just goto the browser and type google >then when google page come up just type playstore apk. Or you can type playstore apk for the tablet name .
 
I downloaded and installed com.android.vending-4.1.10.apk. When I try to access the app, I get "Unfortunately the Google Play Store has stopped". I did a force stop, clear data, and reboot... same thing. Any ideas?
 
Yes goto settings and check the unknow app thing this is allowing all other apps to open on your tablet

I already did this. The play store starts to load, and stays up varying amounts of time before getting the error.
 
Ok i think u may need the google framework apk . Let me see i will send u a pm if i find anthing out .
 
Maybe reset the google framework apk and reset the playstore apk and power off for about 3min and then power back on .

You cannot side load Play store. It will always crash. It requires flashing gapps.zip via a custom recovery like ClockWorkMod or TWRP. Mach Speed Trios are generic models which come pre-rooted (and don't need a SU app for some reason) but do not support Play. I am not sure if there is even a custom recovery since devs don't really mess with these tablets. There are alternatives like Amazon Apps and 1Mobile, SlideMe as well
 
Just to test it out, I installed TitanTV and The Simpsons Tapped Out. Both installed flawlessly, and the Simpsons updated as it was supposed to. It failed to do this when I installed it earlier from 1Mobile.

I don't need Play... Android Market is all I really need.

Should be fine. Sounds like what works on the Nook Simple Touch.

Probably everything runs as root and there is no unprivileged user.

There are alternatives like Amazon Apps and 1Mobile, SlideMe as well

+1 Keep these in mind even if you've gotten Google's market working.

I can't get Android Market going on my Nook Simple Touch...it tried to load but gives an instant connection error.
 
Bummer. Mine didn't happen the way the documentation says it will, but it started working after a few hours anyway. Did you use NookManager to install it?
