Playing 720p Video on PS3?

Is it possible to use the USB cable and hook up the Evo to a ps3, download the video, and play the video in 720p? IS the HDMI cable necessary?
 
If you are talking about video taken with the evo's camcorder, no. The ps3 doesnt have the codec to play it. But, if you ripped a movie and converted it to 720p mp4 h264, then yes, those will play just fine on the ps3
