Playing DVDs (from optical media)

[monnier]

I'd like to play DVDs on my Android TV stick. All I can find are ways to play the files after ripping the DVD, whereas I want to play the DVD directly from the optical media (I have a DVD player connected via USB).

I tried VLC since it can do that under other OSes, but apparently its Android port is not (yet?) able to do that.

Could someone recommend an application that is able to play DVD disks?

I don't have any useful suggestions but thought I'd welcome you anyway. Good luck, you've got me thinking about your problem. I'm looking forward to an answer.
