playing Minecraft PE with xbox controller

Been trying to play Minecraft PE with a wired Xbox controller through an OTG cable connected to my Nexus 7. But only the shoulder button to Mine works.

I can't seem to move the player or do anything but swing my pickaxe.

Anyone know what the problem is?
