Help playing video files from iOS, need converted?

My son sends me videos he takes of my grandson on his iphone and when I try to play them on my Samsung Epic 4G the quality is terrible, very fuzzy, some are barely watchable. Is there a conversion I should do first? Or use a different video player? I'm using the stock video player but I've also tried MX player and Quickpic. It gets a little better but not as good as it could be. Any one else have ideas?

What format are the files in (though most likely .mov)? Is your son sending you said videos via his iPhone? Because that would mean his phone first converts the video to a relatively small size (a few MBs) before being sent, thus equaling a poor experience on your end. To quell the issue I would start using a Cloud storage resource (Google Drive, Dropbox, Skydrive, etc.) that your son can upload his videos to, then you can download and watch them in their full resolution. And of course you can always transfer said videos to a desktop, and then put them on your phone's internal or external memory.

not sure of the format. I'll have to try to check his phone. I wasn't sure if there was a conversion issue since it's 2 separate OS. I'll try Dropbox, that may work as an option. Thanks for the answer!!
