Help Playstore keeps causing reset - Can someone pull app?

Hey, my connect keeps restarting every time I download an app, or update an app using the Google Play Store.

If I were to update AppX -

  • Go To play store
  • Click on Update AppX
  • App starts to download
  • "the process android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
  • Open the play store again manually
  • App finishes downloading/installing
This makes downloading apps or updating them a huge pain. Especially when I'm updating multiple apps.

Any ideas on what is going on?

I think it might be the actual app. Could someone who has a working app pull it and upload it so I can replace my app with it. I'm hoping that should fix the problem.

I get this problem no matter what rom I'm using, and I'm thinking I got a bad playstore, and have been taking it around roms with me.

Thanks for the help.

What android version are you guys running?
You can just Google "gapps" and your android version.
Unzip the gapps package and install the play store app.

so maybe thats the problem with this phone? the stupid google? I unistall all the updates from Google exect the play store one because it update by itself when i got back to google.

so, I think the reboots have nothing to do with app, I have uninstall and took off app including google and all the google stuff and still have a reboot, what I did last night is that I connect my sd card to my computer and deleted all the info on the android folder and data folder and as right now I havent see a reboot...lets see what happens.

Can you please explain more about what you did.

I don't want to accidentally delete something I need. I've got a sd card reader. Do you mean delete all the "data" or all the "files".

If it's data what to you mean?

No matter what I try, the google play store always crashes, which means I have to download/search/rate apps from my computer.

I have tried:
  • Deleting the fold /Android/Data
  • Setting > Applications > Google Play > Clear Data & Clear Cache
  • Uninstall Google Play Store upgrade
  • Clearing Data & Cache of the stock Google Play (without updates)

I want to try to uninstall Google Play Store, and then re-install it, or overwrite it. but I need to find someone who has a working Google Play store on a LG Connect 4g, and can upload it for me, so I can overwrite my version with the new one.

Please help, thanks.

There are several files that work with play store; one or more corrupted/missing components and you'll definitely have problems. What are you running?

Stock firmware? Custom ROM? Rooted? Did you accidentally delete a system file?

My advice, and quite honestly the easiest route would be for you to start over fresh, re-flash with factory VV5 firmware, root with Connect-the-dots package, and flash CWM touch again. You could spend days swapping files out and most likely not get anywhere, ESPECIALLY if you are in fact still running VV3. Some things I learned owning a Connect:

-Use a 16 GB storage card, keep a few CWM backups handy, first CWM backup should be made immediately after CWM is flashed (full untouched stock)

-Before you install an unknown app, make a CWM backup, or update your backup file regularly so you don't have to roll back too far. One stupid app with root permissions is all it takes to screw your firmware up.

Use VV4/VV5 firmware. They run smooth, use less battery and yield faster 4G speeds (mine doubled with VV5, your case may be different). Don't use VV3. Ever. Seriously :D

No, I've got VV5

I really was hoping for a way to get the play store without having to do a complete factory reset.

What I think I'll do first, is make a nandroid backup of the rom as it is right now.

Then go through my backups, and see if one of them has a fully functioning play store. If none of them do then I'll probably have to do a complete factory reset.

Question: If I unroot it and bring it into MetroPCS and tell them that my playstore doesn't work, and that my phone will sometimes turn off when plugging in/taking out the charger. Do you think I'll be able to get a better phone, if not just a new Connects (I hope they burned them all so I cana just get a new phone)
